The EMIGMA (EMissions Inventory for Greater MAnchester) emissions inventory used to track and assess air quality emissions in the Greater Manchester area is proposed to be adopted as a metric for the Greater Manchester Climate Change Strategy under the leadership of the newly formed Combined Authority. This step was preceded by updates to the inventory in 2008 to include climate change gas emissions and production of a web based input format for use by the 10 Greater Manchester authorities. The proposed adoption of this inventory for the Climate Change Strategy recognises and strengthens the linkages between air quality, climate and health agendas. The proposal is also in line with the Low Emissions Strategy Partnerships mass emission based approach to emission reduction planning.
