Planners in Greenwich came together to discuss how the Council is implementing Low Emission Strategies in a half day workshop in the borough last September. Policy and Development Control planners heard from Air Quality Officer Chris Banks and lead Environmental Health Officer Carolyn Birch on how local authorities can address health problems arising from poor air quality, how Low Emission Transport Strategies are used in Greenwich and the use of Section 106 contributions to fund monitoring stations and electric charging points. Tanya Murat looked at the draft London Plan Low Emissions Policy and led a session which fed into the borough’s emerging Core Strategy policies on transport emissions. Transport Planner Kim Smith and LES Partnership representative Andrew Whittles led discussions on travel plans and the wider work of the Low Emission Strategies Partnership.
